Optimistic and perky indie-pop anthems, drenched in summer sun and road-trips

Album released 28th May 2018

Digital Release on CPR Records

From its joyous opener “Elegance” right through to the laid back closing track “Love Songs Forever”, Life Imitating Art is an indie-pop masterclass with songs that many bands who’ve been around for years would die for and it’s packed with great harmonies, anthemic choruses and melodies.

I'm loving the new album by Cornwalls Blue River - Life Imitating Art, built for festival headlines and built for kicking Liam Gallagher up the arse. Gigantic, anthemic guitar pop. Check it out immediately.

Optimistic and perky indie-pop anthems, drenched in summer sun and road-trips
All in all, this is the kind of album that will crop up in people’s collections in 10-15 years and remind

them of that great summer they had.

Blue Rivers live schedule stretches throughout the country playing regular venues around Cornwall including this year the ever-growing Looe Festival after previous sets on the BBC stages at both Boardmasters and the Little Orchard Festival.

Then on up to London’s famous Dublin Castle & Fiddlers Elbow in Camden.

The Fiddlers Elbow gig and the journey there was caught on camera by Cornish filmmaker and Friend in the documentary "Cheap Champagne"

Blue River are an indie-pop rock quartet who are taking the burgeoning Cornish indie scene by storm. Featuring the intricate Marc Willoughby on lead guitar with the timeless vocals and rhythm guitar of Perran Nicholls.  Yielding the sticks on drums is Terry McGowan alongside the deep determined bass of Matt Bond, together they form the backbone of the band.

It all began when Perran at the age of 18 bought himself a cheap guitar from Argos & learnt his first three chords. Joined by his mates and a little common interest, they formed Blue River back in 2007. As the years went by the line-up changed but started to cement itself when Lead guitarist Marc Willoughby and bass player Matt Bond joined Blue River. Finally, the line-up was completed with the addition of Terry McGowan on drums. With a good mix of old school and modern influences from bands such as The Beatles, The Kinks and The Smiths to Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and Two Door Cinema Club. Their sound encompasses a love for an ever-evolving music scene.

The years of hard work have paid off as the bands songs get regular airplay through the BBC Introducing slots on both BBC Radio Cornwall & Devon.

With debut album Anyday Tomorrow paving the way for their future success, Blue River have continued to release hit upon hit by harnessing their signature catchy pop/rock style. This has never been more evident than in their latest Album, Life Imitating Art   released 2018 on the Label CPR Records.

Bringing together solid rhythms, catchy melodies and vocal harmonies the band create a sense of pleasing pop perfection, with the just the right amount of dirtiness to keep you satisfied.

These four showcase that if no man is an island, together Blue River are a whole damn continent.
